A. Ayon sa aking imbestigasyon… dito yata nagsimula
“From the 16th to the 20th of November, we shall change our profile pictures to our favourite cartoon characters. The purpose of this game is to remove all photos of human for a few days from Facebook”
Until the message was modified and had become a campaign
“November 22 to November 29, change your profile picture on Facebook, for a cartoon of your childhood. Why is this? To see only cartoons until Monday on Facebook, to create an invasion of memories of a well spent childhood to join the fight against child violence”
and then
“Change your facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same. Until monday (Dec.6) there should be no human faces on facebook, but an invasion of memories. This is for violence against children. Let us do it for the kids! This is just a small thing.”
then we get videos. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=111821788886886

You can bet your ass that they will keep this going for as long as they can because this is a very good example of “gossip spreading like wildfire” and demonstrates the power of facebook. You can’t say its untimely, remember Christmas is still on Dec 25 and “Ninos Inocentes” is on Dec 28. They will find a reason to extend it.
As with all fads that come and go, its up to you to jump the wagon or not. Personally I got hooked with “invasion of memory” line, I liked the idea and so did a lot of people. Look at your friends’ avatars now and it really shows their age!
This fad is considered spam, stupid or downright pointless by some but so far it is less scary (or harmful) than chain letters threatening you of a death in the family if you don’t hit that forward button.
;P
